About Wencar, Inc.
Wencar was formed in 1982 by the brother and sister combo of Lois Wenger and Ralph Carrier, thus the name "Wencar." The premise of the company was to sell products by single or small numbers, rather than by case lots as many other companies do.With little start-up capital the business was started out of their home. All product was stored in the garage and living room. From that base, they worked their customer service routes using an old bread truck.
After 15 years, the company continued to grow and the owners decided to pass the torch onto younger blood. In November 1998, Gary Meschi, a grocery man from the Rio Grande Valley, decided to purchase the company. With a new vision, and a new team of leaders, the company is growing at a rapid pace.
New products, new ideas, and a service that is second to none, is pushing Wencar to new heights. Currently, Wencar services over 600 stores in the South Texas region. We employ over 35 people and travel from Houston and Austin to Laredo and the lower Rio Grande Valley.
